Job Summary

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Indigenous Peoples Relations Manager to join our Employee Relations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating and finalizing medium to high-risk cases related to Indigenous Peoples, ensuring compliance with governing regulations, Bank policies, and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen relationships with Indigenous Peoples and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Independently manage cases related to Indigenous Peoples, providing value-added advice and coaching on employment-related issues to employees, People Managers, and HR Business Partners.
  • Conduct formal investigations into allegations of serious misconduct, both independently and/or in collaboration with the Employment Law Group and Corporate Security.
  • Lead employee interviews, often engaging in contentious dialogue to analyze the facts of situations; write investigative reports and present findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership to mitigate legal risk to the Bank.
  • Work in collaboration with HR Business Partners in planning the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives, identifying trends and providing insights to Senior Leadership and HR Business Partners to contribute to the HR strategy.
  • Promote and support a seamless and consistent experience for employees and People Managers with ER/LR issues and concerns; update and maintain accurate information in the ER/LR case file to ensure defensibility against potential litigation.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring teams meet obligations while respecting operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
