Role Summary:
Under general supervision, the incumbent will adhere to established procedures in performing cleaning and custodial responsibilities, while also providing assistance in various maintenance tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly cleans and dusts various surfaces including furniture, floors, hallways, and ledges using appropriate cleaning materials and equipment.
- Maintains floor conditions through activities such as stripping, refinishing, scrubbing, and buffing.
- Regularly sanitizes washrooms, ensuring cleanliness of sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
- Collects and disposes of waste materials, ensuring proper recycling practices are followed.
- Handles carpet cleaning and spot removal as necessary.
- Washes windows and walls, including glass partitions.
- Rearranges furniture as required to facilitate cleaning.
- Prepares beds for residence guests when needed.
- Restocks supplies in washrooms and utility kitchens.
- Performs light maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs and cleaning fixtures.
- Ensures exterior entrances are free of debris and garbage.
- Utilizes power washing equipment for cleaning outdoor surfaces.
- Assists with snow removal as necessary.
- May help set up for special events and examinations.
- Maintains cleanliness of escalators and elevators.
- Locks and unlocks doors as instructed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of tenth grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is preferred.
Other Requirements: Candidates must possess the physical capability to perform the outlined duties and effectively use the specified equipment. Proficiency in English communication, both oral and written, is essential.
