About the RoleThe Internal Medicine Department at St. Martha's Regional Hospital is seeking a dedicated full-time Respirologist to enhance our team in a picturesque coastal community.
This department encompasses various subspecialties, including General Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology, Endocrinology, Respirology, and Intensive Care. Our facility is equipped with advanced services such as echocardiography, exercise stress testing, and a Sleep Lab, among others. The hospital also employs two full-time Respiratory Therapists to support patient care.
Compensation is structured on a fee-for-service basis, with the flexibility of vacation time. Additionally, specialists are eligible for call stipends and other incentives as outlined in the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia.
St. Martha's Regional Hospital is affiliated with Dalhousie Medical School, providing opportunities for physicians to apply for faculty positions and engage with residents and learners. There are also prospects to participate in the upcoming Medical Campus on Cape Breton Island.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing inpatient and outpatient consultative services across the Eastern Zone.
- Participating in the Internal Medicine call schedule.
- Offering inpatient and emergency department subspecialty consultation services as needed.
- Covering the 6-bed medical/surgical/cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
This is a full-time position with:
- Outpatient clinic hours.
- A call schedule of 1:6.
Candidates must possess:
- Fellowship status with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or eligibility to take the Fellowship Exam in Internal Medicine.
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
