Job Summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a skilled Oncology Nurse II to join our team in the Outpatient Clinic Services Program. As an Oncology Nurse II, you will be responsible for providing holistic cancer care to patients in the ambulatory setting, including assessment, intervention, treatment administration, and coordination of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient-centered care to individuals with cancer, including assessment, intervention, and treatment administration.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in patient and family education, and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments, and make pertinent recommendations for care.
  • Administer cytotoxic and hazardous medications, and ensure proper handling and disposal procedures are followed.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, and maintain accurate and detailed records.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, and the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Proficient in the use of computer software and applications, including MS Windows, Word, and Outlook.
  • Satisfactory employment record, and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care settings.
  • Knowledge and experience in oncology, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
  • Experience with electronic charting, and ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Ability to speak French, and proficiency in other languages an asset.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling cytotoxic and hazardous medications. The candidate will also be required to participate in ongoing professional development, and maintain current certifications and registrations.
