Job Summary

The Oncology Nurse II Float Specialist will play a critical role in our ambulatory care team, providing nursing support to patients across various sites. This position requires a strong understanding of patient-centred care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic cancer care to patients, including assessment, intervention, treatment administration, and follow-up
  • Participate in patient/family education and make pertinent nursing assessments
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to provide appropriate interventions
  • Work effectively in a variable schedule and across multiple sites
  • Manage cytotoxic and hazardous medications, with proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Strong understanding of patient-centred care
  • Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, and internet use
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Ability to legally work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Three (3) years' experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care settings
  • Previous experience in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion
  • Knowledge and experience with oncology
  • Experience with electronic charting
  • Ability to speak French
  • Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C))
  • Knowledge and experience with wound care
  • Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Leadership and self-development
