Job Summary
The Oncology Nurse II Float Specialist is responsible for providing holistic cancer care to patients in the ambulatory setting. This includes assessment, intervention, treatment administration, and follow-up. The successful candidate will participate in patient/family education, make pertinent nursing assessments, collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team, and provide appropriate interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ambulatory setting
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Participate in patient/family education and support
- Administer treatments and medications as prescribed
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Strong understanding of patient-centred care
- Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, and internet use
- Satisfactory employment record
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Three (3) years' experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care
- Previous experience in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion
- Knowledge and experience with oncology
- Experience with electronic charting
- Ability to speak French
- Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C))
- Knowledge and experience with wound care
- Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
