Our Finance & Accounting division is seeking a full-time Lead Financial Strategist in Calgary, AB. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for 20% remote work flexibility.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Lead Financial Strategist will be instrumental in evaluating and modeling financial data, formulating business strategies, and delivering critical insights to aid in strategic decision-making across the organization. This full-time role presents an outstanding opportunity for a skilled finance professional eager to make a meaningful contribution within a dynamic and expanding company.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong enthusiasm for financial storytelling through data visualization and a proven commitment to supporting a rapidly evolving tech enterprise. They will demonstrate analytical prowess with a solid grasp of financial modeling and data interpretation, alongside exceptional communication abilities to liaise with various stakeholders. Furthermore, they should excel in problem-solving with minimal oversight and exhibit strong organizational capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with the parent company's Forecasting, Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team.
  • Generate financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for management, utilizing visual storytelling to emphasize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
  • Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies and automation for LodgeLink's products, clientele, and internal leaders.
  • Assist in constructing models for financial evaluation of the organization's strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Support month-end margin analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect relevant financial data, ensuring accuracy, and develop comprehensive financial models aimed at revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
  • Assess key performance indicators of the business against established plans to bolster management's data-driven decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against targets, identifying risks and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Aid in the formulation of financial strategies and initiatives that align with the organization's objectives.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in the tech industry, regulatory changes, and evaluate their potential impact on profitability.
  • Provide proactive business analysis and support ad hoc requests as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • CFA designation or an MBA is advantageous.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in an FP&A capacity with a solid understanding of financial and management reporting.
  • Proficient data management and dashboard modeling skills, with advanced Excel expertise and experience in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Previous experience with ERP & planning software, including Oracle EPM, is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and manipulation, with experience handling large datasets considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with computer programming languages is a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to connect issues and proactively work towards resolutions with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and analyses clearly and concisely.
  • A demonstrated strong work ethic, capable of working independently and collaboratively as needed.
