We are in search of a meticulous Lead Financial Strategist to join our team at FLINT Corp. The chosen individual will report to the Financial Reporting Manager and will be tasked with the preparation and evaluation of quarterly and annual financial reports, along with management analysis and discussions. It is essential to ensure that all reports, accounting practices, and documentation adhere to the Company's regulations, professional standards, and IFRS reporting guidelines.
The selected candidate will participate in our hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate closely with the Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controlling, Controllers, and Financial Analysts in both Corporate Finance and Operational Accounting, while also engaging with the Senior Treasury Analyst for cross-training opportunities.
- Contribute to the formulation of strategies, objectives, and goals for the financial reporting function that align with the overarching objectives of the organization, while developing plans to mitigate financial risks.
- Oversee the corporate financial reporting process, which includes the preparation of consolidated financial statements and the necessary management analysis and discussions for quarterly and annual presentations to the Board and for external reporting compliance.
- Assist in the creation of presentations for quarterly Board reports, internal monthly reports, and any additional reporting as required.
- Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliations, and perform related analyses on a regular basis.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and guidelines for the organization, including conducting accounting research.
- Conduct research and prepare variance analyses and explanations by examining past results, identifying trends, and offering recommendations for enhancements to Corporate Finance and the business.
- Enhance productivity by developing or refining automated reporting tools and models.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the implementation of enhanced tools for increased efficiency, such as robotic process automation.
- Foster relationships with external auditors on a quarterly basis and engage with accounting consultants as necessary.
- Support technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting policies, along with other disclosure or governance requirements as needed. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the business and the implications of accounting policies, ensuring that implementations are practical and aligned with business decisions.
- Provide assistance and backup in preparing necessary information for the covenant compliance process for the Corporation on a monthly and ad hoc basis.
- Offer financial guidance to various business areas to ensure accurate accounting practices and that accounting decisions are in alignment with business strategies.
- Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, preferably IFRS.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with thorough analytical and critical thinking abilities to perform independent analyses with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to apply professional judgment in determining appropriate accounting or reporting methods in various scenarios, evaluating potential solutions, and providing sound recommendations.
- Advanced proficiency in utilizing Workiva as a reporting and analysis tool for financial reporting, Board reports, and internal reporting.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and experience with an ERP system (financial modules) is advantageous.
- Experience in preparing written materials, including reports, briefing notes, accounting memos, and other documents for management.
- Proven ability to communicate complex, detailed concepts effectively to diverse audiences in a concise and compelling manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with public company reporting requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration, along with a professional accounting designation (CPA).
