Position Title: Youth Program Coordinator

Compensation: $94 per hour

Work Schedule:
Part-Time (0-30 hours per week)

The Youth Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in designing and facilitating engaging activities for young individuals. This position is dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere where youth feel valued and empowered.

As a primary contact, the Coordinator effectively interacts with youth, families, and community stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and assess enjoyable, secure, and age-appropriate activities for participants, adhering to organizational policies and objectives.
  • Contribute to a nurturing environment that promotes positive and healthy relationships among youth.
  • Monitor and address any youth-related issues, incidents, or crises, providing necessary support and feedback to youth and their families, while reporting critical information to the Youth Programs Manager or relevant agencies.
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities utilized for program delivery are safe, well-maintained, and in good condition post-use.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of transportation vehicles when participants are being transported.
  • Maintain accurate records as required, including daily attendance, program logs, and activity statistics.
  • Support volunteers and practicum students involved in program delivery.
  • Collaborate as an integral member of a cohesive staff team focused on inclusion, excellence, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in activity programming and youth-related issues.
  • Engage in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of programs and individual goal-setting as mandated by reporting requirements.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills relevant to this role.
  • Administer first aid in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to special promotional activities, programs, and events as required by the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Preference for candidates with completed coursework, diplomas, or degrees in Recreation Management, Child and Youth Care, or Education.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
  • Valid Class 4 license is considered an asset.
  • Valid Community Care First Aid certification or equivalent is preferred but can be provided.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with youth in a relevant capacity.
  • Experience with youth who have special needs and behavioral challenges is considered an asset.
