Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Station Chef to join our culinary team at Hilton Toronto. As a Station Chef, you will be responsible for supervising staff and ensuring high levels of food preparation to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Presentation: Lead and direct food preparation in assigned areas for Restaurant and Banquet production, ensuring high standards of quality, quantity, taste, and presentation.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Assign and supervise the work of Team Members in a section, train culinary members and apprentices in all areas of their outlet or section.
  • Menu Planning and Development: Plan and coordinate the development of short and long-term goals set by the Executive Chef, including daily specials and new menu items for outlets and banquets.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain station inventory levels and report shortages of prep requirements for station changes.
  • Operational Safety and Hygiene: Ensure operational safety of kitchen equipment and monitor compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Waste Reduction and Prevention: Prevent overproduction and waste, and conduct checks to ensure mise en place is fresh, dated, and stored appropriately.
Requirements
  • Culinary Education and Experience: Apprenticeship or completed culinary program at a hotel school or college, with 3 years of progressive experience, including 1 year as a Station Chef or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications and Qualifications: Canadian Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) or equivalent, and valid Food Handler Certification.
  • Soft Skills: Good understanding of classical and modern cuisine, banquet production, and current culinary trends, with up-to-date culinary, cooking, and people skills.
  • Availability: Flexible availability to work, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a high-volume, fast-paced culinary environment.
