POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Globe and Mail is on the lookout for a full-time reporter to join our Ottawa bureau. This role is essential for covering federal politics and national news, and proficiency in French is required.


This position is ideal for a motivated journalist eager to make significant contributions to our political reporting. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong ability to generate news stories, create engaging enterprise articles, and develop impactful coverage. Curiosity, adaptability, and teamwork are essential qualities for this role.


The selected candidate will collaborate with colleagues in the Ottawa bureau and across various departments nationwide.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regularly propose engaging story concepts
  • Cultivate sources to uncover news and produce exclusive reports
  • Write clearly and meet deadlines consistently
  • Work collaboratively with reporters and editors throughout the newsroom

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of six years of experience as a reporter in a daily news environment
  • Fluent in French
  • Interest and background in political reporting
  • Excellent writing capabilities
  • Strong news judgment

SALARY: This role is classified under the Reporter category in Group C of the Editorial Collective Agreement.
