Job Overview:

The Building and Systems Engineering division is tasked with the design, construction, and upkeep of package handling equipment and UPS facilities throughout Canada. The selected candidate will undergo training through both classroom learning and practical assignments. This role merges technical expertise with analytical capabilities to support an Automated Sortation System.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of the engineering team at UPS, the incumbent may engage in the following activities:

  1. Control Room Duties:
    1. Monitoring conveyor and system anomalies via the human-machine interface (HMI) application
    2. Analyzing root causes for performance challenges using system analysis tools
    3. Coordinating with field-support specialists/technicians and maintenance personnel to address system issues
    4. Communicating with the Buildings and Systems Engineering Supervisor and Operations Management to minimize system faults and equipment downtime
    5. Reviewing Daily Equipment Condition Reports and dispatching vendors/maintenance personnel to resolve issues
    6. Managing parts ordering and inventory control
  2. Field Duties:
    1. Ensuring system safety protocols are followed
    2. Troubleshooting, calibrating, analyzing, and adjusting Automated Sortation Systems as needed to maintain peak performance
    3. Responding to service calls and breakdowns related to automated system components and ensuring timely resolution
    4. Proactively identifying equipment contributing to system faults
    5. Assisting in routine maintenance and compliance activities
    6. Conducting technical surveys, inspections, and audits regularly
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science or Technical Diploma in a relevant field – or in progress
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  3. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  4. Capable of lifting up to 70lbs without assistance
  5. Detail-oriented with a results-driven mindset
  6. Strong sense of urgency
  7. Excellent communication abilities
  8. Bilingual in French and English is an advantage
  9. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and basic diagrams is beneficial
  10. Familiarity with PLCs and electrical controls is a plus
  11. Working knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous
  12. Experience with IBM Maximo, Coupa, and Oracle software is beneficial
  13. Experience with articulating-boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts is a plus
  14. Flexibility to adapt to changing shift schedules
Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM
