Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team at Grande Prairie Public School Division. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will be responsible for the administration of payroll, benefits, and pension programs for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and process payment cycles, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries and benefits.
  • Administer and interpret complex payroll, benefit, and pension regulations and collective agreements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll, benefit, and pension queries, providing guidance and support to employees.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy of pay and benefit related changes within our HRIS system.
  • Process payroll documents, calculate withholdings and deductions, and prepare monthly submissions for accounting.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, benefits administration, and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software, HRIS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
