Job Title: Mechatronics Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechatronics Engineer to join our team at NPA WorldWide. As a Mechatronics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation technologies for chemistry workflows within self-driving labs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new automation technologies and systems for chemistry workflows
  • Optimize robustness and flexibility of custom or commercially available hardware and software modules
  • Collaborate with chemists and process engineers to integrate automation solutions into experimental workflows
  • Create and implement experimental protocols for testing new automation technologies
  • Oversee the integration of automation systems with existing laboratory equipment and processes
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade automation platforms
  • Prepare research output presentations and technical grant proposals
  • Support the development of technical manuscripts for internal use or publication

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics, Automation Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
  • Masters or doctoral degree in a relevant discipline
  • 4 years of demonstrated work experience or a combination of educational and work experience in designing, developing, and implementing automation technologies
  • Experience with Python and interfacing with APIs and code debugging
  • Comfortable working with and debugging electronics and lab equipment
  • Experience with parametric CAD software like SolidWorks and Fusion 360
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and executed automated chemistry workflows
  • Experience with various UPLC / HPLC instruments, Chromatography Data Systems, vendors and applications
  • Open and effective communication style, excellent public presentation skills, strong people skills, cross-organizational teamwork and the ability to interact with and influence the direction of key opinion leaders in the industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a cooperative team environment and focus on individual, time dependent projects with minimal direct supervision
  • Analytical, assertiveness, creativity and effective problem-solving skills
  • Solid Skills in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Why is This a Great Opportunity:

We offer a competitive salary range of CAD$ 85,000 to CAD$ 100,000, eligibility for extended health benefits programs, and 15 days of vacation per calendar year, prorated for the first year based on hiring date. The salary type is Annual Salary, with a minimum salary of $80,000 and a maximum salary of $100,000. The currency type is USD.
