Job Summary

GCS Group is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Drilling Operations Manager to lead our utility drilling team in the Edmonton area. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of drilling projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Execution
    • Develop and implement project plans, including resource allocation and scheduling.
    • Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead and mentor a team of drilling foremen and operators to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
    • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to improve performance and address any issues.
  • Safety and Quality Management
    • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
    • Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure high-quality drilling operations.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Communicate project status and progress to project managers and stakeholders.
    • Prepare and submit reports on project performance, including safety and quality metrics.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in a senior drilling operations role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation.
