Position Overview

The Regional Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing a skilled trades operation. Key responsibilities encompass driving team engagement to meet all operational requirements, collaborating on process development and execution, ensuring adherence to service level agreements, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership of Personnel

  • Oversees a team of Technicians within the designated region.
  • Manages people-centric activities, including employee engagement, development, performance management, recruitment, and retention.
  • Ensures adherence to health and safety protocols during service delivery through regular toolbox discussions, safety training, provision of protective gear, and incident monitoring.
  • Guarantees that all work complies with internal and external standards.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements.
  • Provides technical guidance to Technicians.

Management of Operations

  • Administers operational budgets with a focus on cost efficiency and monitoring weekly work order expenditures.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to assess, develop, refine, and implement processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Recommends and integrates technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements.
  • Allocates Technicians to projects and work orders, ensuring timely completion that meets all specifications.
  • Monitors and drives team performance to achieve service level agreements and performance metrics.
  • Enhances efficiency through effective resource utilization, addressing work order and callback issues, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Works closely with Dispatch and CMMS teams to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Investigates and resolves operational challenges promptly.
  • Acts swiftly to resolve issues, ensuring timely solutions and maintaining client satisfaction.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Education: Community college diploma or equivalent training (e.g., RPA, CET).

Job-Related Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in trades operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory requirements and a commitment to staying informed.
  • Technical proficiency in one or more skilled trades disciplines, such as refrigeration, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of skilled trades professionals, driving performance to meet all objectives.
  • Expertise in managing skilled trades operations and personnel.
  • Capability to develop and implement processes and standard operating procedures.
  • Proficient in influencing, persuading, and negotiating.
  • Strong computer skills.

Licenses and Professional Accreditations:

Trade certification in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:

  • Journeyman level Refrigeration license.
  • Journeyman level Electrical license.
  • Journeyman level Plumbing license.
