Job Title: Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief

GeoVerra is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief to join our dynamic Geomatics team in Ottawa, ON.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to lead our field survey team and manage pipeline integrity survey work. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a healthy respect for the outdoors, and the ability to operate equipment and field tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.
  • Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  • Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).
  • Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.
  • Experience working on Pipelines and/or Pipeline Integrity is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
  • The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
  • A valid driver's license and can provide a clean driver's abstract; and
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace
