Job Title: Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipeline Integrity Survey Crew Chief to join our dynamic Geomatics team at GeoVerra. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and performing field survey work, coordinating with project managers, and liaising with clients and landowners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of survey assistants.
  • Liaise with project managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners, and serve as a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to survey assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures, and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software, including GPS and Total Stations (including Robotic).
  • Experience with Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning, and line locating considered an asset.
  • Experience working on pipelines and/or pipeline integrity preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.
  • The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
  • An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to provide a clean driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.
Working Conditions
  • Out-of-town work, including shift work, and frequent travel required.
  • Ability to carry, lift, and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
