Transitional Support Worker

The Transitional Support Worker provides critical support to women who have experienced abuse, helping them develop a transitional plan to access community resources and achieve independence and stability in their lives.
Key Responsibilities- Assess client needs and develop a transitional plan to access community resources.
- Provide supportive counseling, outreach, and advocacy services to clients.
- Liaise and coordinate with other community support services to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and statistical records.
- Participate in staff meetings, case management meetings, and community events to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
- Represent the organization in the community, providing workshops and public education on issues related to woman abuse and its effects on children.
- Diploma or degree in Social Work or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in counseling, including group work.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, community resources, and feminist/anti-oppression frameworks.
- Sensitivity and awareness of cultural, racial, economic, and socially diverse communities.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
- Ability to administer Naloxone and provide harm reduction supports.
- Experience working within a feminist/anti-oppression framework and knowledge of mental health issues and substance abuse.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
The Transitional Support Worker will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing support to clients in a variety of settings. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities.
