Position Overview

The Electrical Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting both staff and students within the program labs. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of lab environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of computer and network software pertinent to the program.
  • Manage inventory levels and recommend necessary purchases for materials and supplies.
  • Stay updated on advancements in lab practices, materials, and equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols within the laboratory settings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a Red Seal Electrician certification in Saskatchewan or an equivalent combination of education and experience in related fields such as electronic technology or instrumentation.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the electrical field.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude coupled with a solid understanding of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
