The Financial Operations Manager will be essential in overseeing the organization's financial and accounting functions, contributing to strategic planning for expansion and aligning with corporate objectives.

This role requires a positive attitude and adaptability to handle various tasks as they arise.

The focus will be on the continuous management of the company's financial and accounting activities, ensuring efficiency and maximizing profitability.

The Financial Operations Manager will also seek opportunities for ongoing enhancements in financial and accounting processes.

This position will primarily be in-office for the initial months, transitioning to a hybrid model thereafter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Streamline daily accounting operations, ensuring all transactions related to the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, monthly financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll, and project accounting are completed efficiently.
  • Assist in designing and implementing financial strategies, including forecasting, budgeting, and internal control policies.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance reports to provide insights into the organization's financial performance, including cash flow management.
  • Evaluate and review business policies and plans to identify financial risks, advising management on potential issues and collaborating on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor the organization's financial performance against established goals, ensuring progress and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, government agencies, financial institutions, legal advisors, accountants, and insurance providers.
  • Stay informed on relevant legislation, regulations, and policies affecting financial operations, including payroll remittances and sales tax obligations.
  • Support project accounting by tracking costs, billable and non-billable hours, utilization rates, and efficiency, while updating project budgets and reporting on final outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure project budgets are accurate, work-in-progress is current, and invoices are prepared timely and accurately.
  • Perform job setup in the accounting system and on servers, reviewing and correcting coding for all job-related expenses.
  • Review contract terms for revenue recognition and billing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing accounting and financial operations for a division or organization is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fiscal management, responsibility, and business finance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to read and interpret contract information effectively.
  • Primarily an in-office role with required overtime as needed.
