Electrical Testing Technician

Shermco is seeking a skilled Electrical Testing Technician to join our team in British Columbia. As a key member of our field services division, you will provide technical assistance and quality service to our clients while maintaining a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on electrical projects to clients, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Assess technical issues on site and provide recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to resolve project management issues and ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Manage multiple small jobs, coordinating the effective use of technical staff, equipment, and resources.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior technical staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their duties.
  • Contribute expertise to projects involving transformer testing, industrial plant and utility relaying protection, metering schemes, switchgear testing/maintenance, power system design, and turnkey substations.
Requirements:
  • Accredited 2-year technical college diploma in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in an Electrical Engineering Technologist role is considered an asset.
  • PSE or C.E.T designation is considered an asset.
  • Cable termination experience with brands such as 3M, Raychem, Pfisterer is considered an asset.
  • NETA certification is considered an asset.
  • Fluent English language skills, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstract, as fieldwork is a requirement of this position.
  • Canadian passport is required for travel.

Compensation:
  • $35 to $55 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Overtime after 8 hours, double time after 10 hours.
