Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for evaluating operational processes and pinpointing areas for enhancement within aircraft and component maintenance, modification, repair, overhaul, part manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and project management activities. This role involves developing and executing improvement strategies utilizing continuous improvement methodologies, collaborating closely with various stakeholder groups, including IT. You will measure the impact of improvements, establish sustainable practices, communicate outcomes, celebrate achievements, and disseminate lessons learned. The role also includes promoting and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess current processes, facilities, and systems for potential productivity enhancements.
  • Employ standard lean, six sigma, and industrial engineering methodologies to evaluate existing processes and propose enhancements.
  • Conduct analyses to identify opportunities, assess cost-benefit scenarios, and advocate for necessary changes.
  • Lead teams through the change management process.
  • Coordinate all activities related to the implementation of approved changes.
  • Oversee project management for larger initiatives, including scheduling, planning, and risk assessment.
  • Create documentation such as procedures, work instructions, and training materials to support process improvements.
  • Facilitate training sessions to educate employees, customers, and other stakeholders affected by changes.
  • Develop metrics to measure the success of implemented improvements.
  • Prepare reports or presentations to document and communicate the results of improvement initiatives.
  • Establish management reporting, KPIs, and other tools to ensure the sustainability of improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Industrial Engineer or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Training and expertise in process improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing, six sigma, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong change management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing change initiatives.
  • Able to effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels of personnel and management.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power BI, and SQL.
  • Project Management training or experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in facilitating or leading Kaizen events or similar improvement activities with diverse teams is preferred.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, union, ERP, and project portfolio management environments is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
  • Successful candidates will meet the requirements for international regulations and controlled goods programs.
