Position Overview

As a vital member of our culinary team at Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen Inc., the Sous-Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen. This position requires a blend of leadership, culinary expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a culinary role is essential.
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate in planning menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Staff Management: Supervise and mentor a team of 11-15 kitchen staff, ensuring effective training in food preparation and presentation.
  • Cost Management: Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory to analyze operating costs.
  • Quality Control: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to uphold hygiene and safety standards.
  • Equipment Management: Arrange for the purchase and repair of kitchen equipment as necessary.
  • Cooking and Preparation: Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods, demonstrating new techniques to the team.
  • Recruitment: Assist in the recruitment and hiring of kitchen staff.
Work Environment

This role is set in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are essential. The position requires physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and handling heavy loads.

Additional Information
