Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Field Underwriter. This role is pivotal in fostering new business relationships and maintaining existing ones within the commercial insurance sector.

Location: North York - Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Salary: The compensation for this position is competitive and reflective of various factors, including market conditions and individual qualifications. The expected salary range is between $80,000 and $100,000, with additional benefits available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to drive business growth.
  • Act as the primary contact for designated brokers, ensuring effective communication and support.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to meet sales targets.
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial lines accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of new and renewal accounts, collaborating with the production team to assess opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide insights on accounts that were not acquired to enhance future strategies.
  • Participate in underwriting projects and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Engage in industry events to represent the company and network with professionals.
  • Travel within the assigned territory as necessary to meet with brokers.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent business experience.
  • Active pursuit of a Property and Casualty Industry Designation is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the designated territory.
