Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Field Underwriter. This role is pivotal in driving new business growth by fostering and maintaining robust relationships with brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary representative for the company, establishing strong partnerships and managing a portfolio to meet profitability and revenue targets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for designated brokers.
- Meet sales objectives by identifying and generating new business opportunities.
- Proactively build a pipeline of new accounts ahead of expiration dates to ensure profit and revenue goals are achieved.
- Regularly discuss potential accounts in the pipeline, reviewing strategies and establishing underwriting relationships with brokers.
- Underwrite and oversee a commercial lines portfolio for the assigned territory.
- Collaborate on underwriting new and renewal commercial lines accounts, pre-qualifying members, and working with the production team to evaluate new business prospects.
- Maintain comprehensive records of accounts and conduct post-analysis on accounts that were not secured to enhance sales strategies and competitive insights.
- Facilitate effective communication regarding underwriting practices, growth, and profitability objectives.
- Review loss control assessments, engage in underwriting procedure improvement projects, and provide recommendations to enhance departmental outcomes, including coverage and pricing adjustments.
- Participate in industry and broker events.
- Travel within the assigned territory using a company vehicle, which may require short-notice travel or daily driving tasks.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance sector.
- Post-secondary education or relevant business experience.
- Completion or active pursuit of a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to analyze information thoroughly.
- Strong decision-making skills with the capacity to provide rationale.
- Excellent communication abilities to present information effectively.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with the capability to identify and implement solutions.
- Ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and monitor progress to meet deadlines.
- Self-sufficient with sound decision-making capabilities.
- Willingness to travel regularly to meet with brokers within the designated territory.
