Job Summary:

Nanaimo Seniors Village is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Programmer to join our team. As a Recreation Programmer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing activity programs that meet the holistic needs and interests of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement activity programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents
  • Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation Manager/Recreation Manager to ensure program alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Promote and publicize established recreation programs to residents and staff
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of program activities and resident participation
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and residents, and provide educational in-services as needed
  • Assist with the development and implementation of community programs and events

Requirements:

  • Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate program
  • Previous experience in a senior's focused environment an asset
  • Dementia course an asset
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate an asset
  • Valid Class 4 (Unrestricted) BC Driver's License a requirement
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions
