About the Role
The Recreation Programmer will work closely with the Therapeutic Recreation Manager to design and implement engaging activity programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents. This role requires a collaborative and empathetic individual who can build strong relationships with residents, staff, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of our residents' needs and preferences.
- Design and deliver a range of recreational activities, including outings, exercises, crafts, social events, and entertainment.
- Assist residents with mobility and provide support as needed.
- Monitor and report any changes in residents' health or well-being to the supervisor and/or nurse.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Document and maintain accurate records of resident interactions, activity participation, and program evaluations.
- Participate in staff training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with volunteers to support program delivery and resident engagement.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Grade 12 Education
- Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate program
- Previous experience in a senior's focused environment an asset
- Dementia course an asset
- Valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate
- Serving It Right Certificate
- Food Safe Level 1 Certificate an asset
- Valid Class 4 (Unrestricted) BC Driver's License a requirement
- Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
