About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled HVDC Operations Technology Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. in Montreal. As a key member of our HVDC team, you will be responsible for defining automation equipment requirements and topology for our HVDC converter stations, working from tender phase to project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure for HVDC projects.
  • Lead the OT System design in our control and protection system, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Develop and implement complete infrastructure of networks and systems to support operations.
  • Participate in security assessments as a subject-matter expert.
  • Contribute to identifying and capturing opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with customers, both internally and externally, to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.
  • Network with engineering colleagues, sharing best practices across different projects and disciplines.
  • Travel abroad to participate in building power stations around the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems (MicroScada and Intouch are assets).
  • Knowledge of Database Management/SQL.
  • IT-Infrastructure experience with routers, firewalls, Switches, Servers, and workstations.
  • Exposure to Cyber Security.
  • Backup/Image handling on servers and workstations and patch management.
  • Exposure to AC Control & Protection schemes or automation.
  • Basic knowledge of International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards.
  • C/C++ knowledge is an asset.
  • Experience in HVDC projects is an advantage, but other OT experience from AC side or automation is also valuable.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required for effective communication with stakeholders.
  • French speaking is an asset.
