About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVDC Operations Technology Specialist to join our team at Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. in Montreal. As a key member of our HVDC team, you will be responsible for defining automation equipment requirements and topology for our HVDC converter stations, working from tender phase to project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure for HVDC projects.
  • Lead system and network implementations in HVDC projects, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering colleagues to share best practices and improve system design.
  • Participate in security assessments and contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with customers to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Knowledge of database management and SQL.
  • IT infrastructure experience, including routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and workstations.
  • Exposure to cyber security and backup/image handling on servers and workstations.
  • Experience with AC control and protection schemes or automation.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
