About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVDC Operations Technology Engineer to join our team at Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. in Montreal. As a key member of our HVDC team, you will be responsible for defining automation equipment requirements and topology for our HVDC converter stations, working from tender phase to project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure for HVDC projects.
  • Lead system and network implementations in HVDC projects, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Build complete infrastructure of networks and systems to support operations, including security assessments and best practices.
  • Collaborate with customers, both internally and externally, to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.
  • Participate in security assessments as a subject-matter expert and contribute to identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Travel abroad to participate in building power stations and collaborate with engineering colleagues to share best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering or correlated areas.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems, including MicroScada and Intouch.
  • Knowledge of Database Management/SQL, IT-Infrastructure, and Cyber Security.
  • Experience with AC Control & Protection schemes or automation, and exposure to International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required, with French speaking being an asset.
