About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVDC Operations Technology Specialist to join our team at Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. in Montreal. As a key member of our HVDC team, you will be responsible for defining automation equipment requirements and topology for our HVDC converter stations, working from tender phase to project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement SCADA systems, HMI, and network infrastructure for HVDC projects.
  • Lead system and network implementations in HVDC projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and applicable standards.
  • Build complete infrastructure of networks and systems to support operations, respecting best practices topologies and customer requirements.
  • Participate in security assessments as a subject-matter expert and actively contribute to identifying and capturing opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with customers, both internally and externally, to ensure delivery meets their requirements and standards.
  • Travel abroad to participate in building power stations around the world and contribute to sharing best practices across different projects and disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or MSc. degree in Electric engineering or correlated areas.
  • + 2 years of experience with Gateway Server, SCADA, and HMI systems (MicroScada and Intouch is an asset).
  • Knowledge on Database Management/SQL, IT-Infrastructure, and Cyber Security.
  • Exposure to Backup/Image handling on servers and workstations and patch management.
  • Exposure in AC Control & Protection schemes or automation.
  • Exposure/Basic Knowledge in International electrical (IEEE/IEC) Standards.
  • Knowledge on C/C++ is an asset.
  • Experience in HVDC projects will be an added advantage, but also other OT experience from AC side or automation.
