Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Terminal Support Specialist to join our IT Department at Global Container Terminals Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our users, troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, and collaborating with our team to ensure seamless IT operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide second-level support for inquiries from our central help desk.
  • Support desktop and yard equipment at our lower mainland sites.
  • Communicate effectively with users to determine, resolve, and document problems.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tickets simultaneously.
  • Respond physically to site to diagnose, repair, and maintain computer systems.
  • Work with unionized labor to troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade computer systems in industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, remediate, and document issues as they arise.
  • Proactively identify and learn applicable software and hardware used by the organization.
  • Proactively identify root cause of issues and suggest steps for prevention of future problems.
  • Work with project stakeholders to deploy new computer systems in office and industrial settings.
  • Keep records of equipment user problems to allow for trend analysis.
Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a support specialist role or related information technology industry experience providing technical support to users.
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing technical support for hardware-related issues, including diagnosing, installation, repair, and maintenance, and user training.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline.
  • Technical proficiency in hardware and software used by the organization.
  • Previous experience working within and understanding of the container shipping industry.
  • Valid drivers' license within the province of British Columbia for travel to terminal locations as needed.
  • English language fluency for listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Ability to lift objects to 70lbs, reach above and below waist-level, and climb to heights over 30ft.
