Position Summary

We are seeking a Terminal Support Specialist to join our IT Department. This full-time, permanent role is designed for individuals who excel in a dynamic environment and are committed to achieving ambitious objectives.

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia (with occasional travel to terminal sites in the province)

Compensation: $38.59/hour, eligible for overtime at 1.5x

Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, prescription drug, and vision coverage; discretionary annual performance-based incentive; defined benefit pension plan; three weeks of vacation to start.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level support for inquiries directed to the central helpdesk.
  • Assist with desktop and yard equipment across various sites.
  • Communicate effectively with users to identify, resolve, and document technical issues.
  • Manage multiple support tickets simultaneously.
  • Physically respond to sites as necessary to diagnose and repair computer systems.
  • Collaborate with unionized labor for troubleshooting and upgrading industrial equipment.
  • Document and remediate issues as they arise, coordinating with third-level support when needed.
  • Proactively learn about the software and hardware utilized by the organization.
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend preventive measures.
  • Engage with project stakeholders during the deployment of new systems.
  • Maintain records of user problems for trend analysis.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in a technical support role or related IT field.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting hardware-related issues, including installation, repair, and user training.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
  • Technical expertise in the hardware and software used by the organization.
  • Familiarity with the container shipping industry is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license in British Columbia and access to a vehicle for travel.
  • Fluency in English for all forms of communication.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform tasks at heights exceeding 30 ft.
