Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting various machining processes, including tooling and fixtures, to ensure adherence to customer specifications and industry standards. This position will work closely with the Engineering Department and report to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and establish manufacturing processes for components and/or assemblies, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with various departments and suppliers to establish controls for machining and special processes.
  • Determine optimal production methods, including process routings and travelers, for shop floor operations.
  • Investigate new technologies to optimize current processing and improve manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate with customers to resolve issues and aid in design changes.
  • Obtain customer approvals and maintain specification and supplier approvals.
  • Coordinate processes with current vendors and assist with development of new vendors.
  • Follow-up on projects to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and resolve technical questions and issues with CNC Programmers, Production, Quality, and vendors.
  • Provide assistance in tooling development and fixture design.
  • Maintain inter-company Engineering Database and Open Issues documents.
  • Responsible for non-conforming part(s) disposition and participating in root cause and corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing and machining principles, methods, and planning.
  • Analytical thinker with a strong focus on process improvement.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrative proficiency with CAD/CAM software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in CNC programming, cutting tool selection, and planning.
  • Team player, to interact effectively within the facility, vendors, and customers while representing the company in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates strong time management.
  • Ensures compliance to AS 91000 Quality System.
  • Ensure compliance to Health & Safety standards, policies, and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of a University or College degree – Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related field of study.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector with complex parts (preferably gears) and multi-axis machining.
  • Experience with special processing such as painting, plating, and heat treatment would be an asset.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools, 5 Why's, 8D, Fishbone Diagram, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
