About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FSQA Supervisor/HACCP Specialist to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key leader on our Food Safety and Quality Assurance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective execution of our Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs and protocols at our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, update, and ensure consistent execution of QA programs to align with internal and external requirements.
  • Supervise a staff of QA Technicians and/or QA Coordinators, ensuring that tasks are conducted consistently, efficiently, and aligned with the needs of the business.
  • Plan QA staffing requirements according to production demands.
  • Assist with HACCP and MLF Food Safety and Quality program updates, maintenance, and verifications.
  • Assist with analysis of data to determine root cause of deficiencies and provide feedback on performance and necessary improvements.
  • Assist with third-party audits (CFIA, CVS, HACCP, BRC, FSQMS, or customer) and prepare/coach cross-functional managers before and during these audits.
  • Participate in cross-functional SOP development and ensure that facility SOPs and related documents are in correct format, properly stored, and distributed as per manufacturing excellence requirements.
  • Conduct monthly GMP, internal, and external audits with cross-functional teams and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in completing incident investigations where food safety or food quality may be compromised.
  • Provide functional support to the crisis team, including backing up the QA Manager as recall site lead if required.
  • Advocate for an attitude of continuous process improvement and training of employees at hourly and salary levels.
  • Take the lead on executing various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our products.
  • Support and/or lead change management activities related to processes, programs, and/or systems.
  • Support the FSQA team as required (back-up for various roles, etc).
Requirements:
  • University degree or college diploma preferably in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of food-related experience in areas of GMP and HACCP principles and programs.
  • Must have in-depth HACCP experience, including program development, implementation of programs, and auditing of the program.
  • Proven ability to lead and coach.
  • Superior communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and presentation skills.
  • Strong systems skills (including MS Office).
  • Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
