The business development function at Wealthsimple is centered around serving our clients and guiding a generation of Canadians toward their financial aspirations.

The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to cultivate a premier sales experience for our clients and develop a team that fosters trust and encourages investment with Wealthsimple. This leader collaborates closely with Growth Marketing, Sales Operations, and Sales leadership to accelerate our growth beyond any other financial service provider in Canada.

While many financial institutions focus solely on expansion, we have achieved remarkable results when our Commercial team collaborates closely with Growth Marketing. Specifically, the Business Development team is projected to generate $3.5B in net deposits in the upcoming year, with plans to double that to $7B in net deposit growth in the following year.

Currently, the financial services sector is dominated by a few major banks that impose high fees and offer subpar service to clients with less than $3M in net worth. Additionally, over $2T in assets reside within the Wealth Management sector, where a significant portion is subjected to high fees and lackluster returns. We believe it's time for a transformative approach for Canadians.


In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Lead and expand the BDR organization focused on driving growth through outreach to both new and existing clients.
  • Mentor and develop 4 Team Leads to become effective sales leaders, fostering a collaborative work environment while overseeing a team of 40 BDRs.
  • Take ownership of your revenue targets, metrics, and performance, optimizing for sales funnel conversion and pipeline management.
  • Utilize data to uncover insights that enhance team performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Growth Marketing, Revenue Operations, and other sales leaders to share best practices and enhance productivity and funnel conversion to scale the business.
