Role Overview
The Vehicle Integration Engineer (VIE) will be responsible for capturing customer feedback, establishing technical goals, and performing development and validation testing for designated vehicle initiatives. Leading a specific functional area (Body, Interior, or Electrical), the VIE will manage the development and implementation within that functional domain for a particular vehicle project. By defining Vehicle Functional Objectives and Validation Plans (DVP&R), the VIE will be instrumental in facilitating new feature integration and participating in technical forums to ensure consistent execution across various vehicle lines. Furthermore, the VIE will spearhead the issue resolution process, assembling cross-functional engineering teams to identify root causes and develop corrective action strategies. The position will also involve leading or assisting with ride and drive events, overnight assessments, validation excursions, and pilot build activities.
Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to relay performance updates and discuss problem-solving strategies
- Participating in hands-on vehicle activities such as testing, inspection, and analysis
- Conducting benchmarking of internal fleets or competitive models
- Working with workshops to oversee vehicle updates
- Monitoring vehicle performance progress using internal scorecard documents and systems
- Presenting updates to senior management during weekly escalation meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in automotive product development
- Familiarity with automotive components, systems, and vehicles
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical issues in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and build strong working relationships
- Self-driven, capable of managing multiple tasks, and prioritizing workload
- Valid driver's license
