Job Title: Life Skills Youth Peer Supporter

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Life Skills Youth Peer Supporter. As a key member of our integrated and multi-disciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting young people aged 12 to 24 years old who are facing challenges such as trauma and social marginalization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish trusting relationships with youth and provide resources, mentorship, and coordination of group activities.
  • Work closely with other team members, engage in organizational projects, and serve as a bridge to additional YMCA services.
  • Provide support to aid with reducing youth's distress, improve or maintain functioning, and enable independence and active participation.
  • Develop, lead, or co-facilitate group services to promote skill development, mental health, and substance use recovery.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and organizational initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

We welcome applications from individuals with a Diploma in community social services or two years of recent, related work experience with an emphasis on mental health, addictions, homelessness, and/or social services. A strong initiative-taking approach, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are essential.
