Reporting to the Zone Medical Executive Director, the Hospitalist Department Head provides strategic leadership and oversight for clinical care within their designated department. This role is crucial in ensuring high-quality patient experiences and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:- Administrative Direction: Oversee all administrative functions of the department, fostering a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Service Continuity & Patient Flow: Guarantee uninterrupted service delivery and optimize patient flow processes to enhance access and timely care.
- Resource Management & Strategic Planning: Participate in advisory committees, allocate resources effectively, and contribute to strategic planning and budgeting initiatives for the department.
- Quality Assurance & Improvement: Implement and monitor quality assurance measures to continuously elevate the standard of care provided within the department.
- Team Development & Collaboration: Provide co-leadership in developing and implementing plans to improve access and flow within the zone, actively contributing to the Access and Flow Network Council. Mentor and support medical students and residents, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Medical Staff Leadership: Maintain professional standards within the department and effectively address any issues concerning the medical staff.
- Research & Clinical Services: Support the research agenda within the department and actively participate in clinical services planning and recruitment efforts.
- MD, licensable in Nova Scotia
- 3-5 years of experience in medical department leadership roles
