Strategic Policy Analyst

Reporting to the Sr. Director of the Integrated Acute & Episodic Care Network, the Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Clinical Network. This involves providing leadership in policy development, planning, and accountability, as well as advancing provincial standards, best practices, and evidence-based decision making.
The Senior Analyst provides strategic analysis and advice on issues impacting the clinical service area and/or population across the lifespan. This includes advising on the advancement of defined priority areas according to the Network's goals and objectives and the identified strategic directions of Nova Scotia Health.
Working closely with the Network Co-leaders, the Senior Analyst assists in designing a provincial integrated plan for the Service or Population-based Network and in developing strategic and operational plans that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by Nova Scotia Health, the Department of Health and Wellness, and other relevant bodies.
The Senior Analyst also brings a strong background in quality improvement to facilitate the development of a quality program for the Network(s) and supports continuous improvement to advance a vision of excellence within the Clinical Network.
About YouWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional with a Master's Degree in a health-related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in policy development, planning, and accountability, as well as experience in advancing provincial standards, best practices, and evidence-based decision making.
- Master's Degree in a health-related discipline
The following qualifications would be considered an asset:
- Registration with a relevant health or professional discipline/college or association
- Certified Health Executive designation
- 5-7 years of relevant senior leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for standards development, evaluation, and implementation, advising on healthy public policy, and adoption of best practices to deliver high-quality services
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
- Strategic planning and systems thinking
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
- Expertise in financial planning
- Evidence-based collaborative problem-solving of complex multifaceted issues
- Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving
- Understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
- Expertise in leading complex change
- Quality improvement methodologies
- Cultural competence
- Collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
- Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
- Travel may be required
