Job Summary:
The Yellowknives Dene First Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to join its senior team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial management of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and the Government Chief and Council.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and YKDFN Finance Policy.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Government Chief and Council, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the financial planning and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to support business decisions and strategic planning.
- Supervise and mentor finance staff to ensure effective financial management and control.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in finance or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a senior financial management role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent financial analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with SAGE 300 software and GAAP accounting principles.
- Desirable: CPA designation and knowledge of First Nations organizations and cultural history.
