Job Title: Director, Accounting and Finance

The Department of Health and Social Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Accounting and Finance to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and leadership to support the delivery of high-quality health and social services to the people of the Northwest Territories.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the department's goals and objectives
  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to senior management and staff
  • Oversee the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
  • Manage and analyze financial data to inform decision-making
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective financial planning and management
Requirements:
  • University degree in a related field (Administration, Business, Commerce, Finance)
  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CGA, CMA, or CA)
  • At least 5 years of directly related work experience, including at least 4 years at a managerial level in a complex organization
  • Experience in finance and administration, with a focus on financial planning and analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and implement financial policies and procedures
