Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist guests at various locations throughout the Zoo, providing directions and answering inquiries.

  • Promote and process sales for admissions, memberships, and special events, aiming to achieve and surpass sales goals.
  • Operate point-of-sale systems and access control devices efficiently.
  • Support guests with the parking system, ensuring a smooth experience.
  • Manage lines and crowd flow, ensuring compliance with Zoo policies while using communication tools.
  • Collaborate with a specialized team to coordinate school group visits, ensuring safety and organization for large groups.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including all equipment and high-touch surfaces.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols established by the Zoo.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the team.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems, with the ability to balance transactions accurately.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong customer service skills and problem-solving abilities, especially in challenging situations.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes as needed.
  • A responsible and mature approach to work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Working Environment

  • This position involves both indoor and outdoor work.
  • Expect to be on your feet for extended periods, with activities including walking, standing, and some light lifting.
  • The schedule may include weekdays and weekends, with early morning and evening shifts as required.
  • Direct interaction with Zoo visitors is a fundamental aspect of this role.
