We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Manager to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a critical role in supporting the overall success of our Employee Relations and Labor Relations business strategy and objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and Finalize ER/LR Cases: Independently manage Employee Relations and Labor Relations cases requiring specialized depth of expertise and knowledge of employment law, labor law, and Bank policies.
- Provide Expert Advice and Coaching: Act as a subject matter expert and provide value-added advice and coaching on employment-related issues to employees, People Managers, and HR Business Partners.
- Conduct Formal Investigations: Conduct formal investigations into allegations of serious misconduct, both independently and/or in collaboration with the Employment Law Group and Corporate Security.
- Lead Employee Interviews and Present Findings: Lead employee interviews, often engaging in contentious dialogue to analyze the facts of situations; write investigative reports and present findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership.
- Support Strategic Initiatives: Work in collaboration with HR Business Partners in planning the end-to-end delivery of strategic initiatives, such as reorganizations impacting a large employee population.
- Post-Secondary Degree or College Diploma: Post-secondary degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business, or another related field.
- Experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources: 2-5 years of experience in Employee Relations or Human Resources.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in French is required.
- Designations and Certifications: CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Employment Law and Labor Law: Expert knowledge of employment law and labor law within the various countries ER/LR supports.
- Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment and strong conflict and alternative dispute resolution skills.
- Communication and Organizational Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation skills, and the ability to multitask while remaining organized.
