- Educate and empower patients to enhance their oral health, providing clear instructions and guidance to promote healthy habits.
- Collect and maintain accurate dental and medical histories, ensuring comprehensive records for each patient.
- Assist in preparing patients for orthodontic procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
- Prepare patients and equipment for X-rays, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Take and process X-rays according to established safety protocols, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Examine gums for infections or diseases, identifying potential issues and providing prompt treatment.
- Perform teeth cleaning, polishing, and oral hygiene instructions, promoting healthy teeth and gums.
- Assist in orthodontic procedures such as bonding and appliance management, working closely with the orthodontic team.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and treatment progress, keeping them informed and engaged throughout their care.
- Update patient records and examination notes promptly, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Assist with laboratory duties as directed, supporting the smooth operation of the office.
- Maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring a clean and well-organized workspace.
- Foster teamwork and positivity in a fast-paced environment, contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.
Requirements:
- Completion of Dental Hygiene Diploma or Degree program, with a strong foundation in dental hygiene principles and practices.
- Registered and in good standing with the provincial dental hygiene regulatory authority, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and adherence to industry standards.
- 2+ years' dental hygiene experience preferred, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to a successful practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ensuring effective communication with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities, prioritizing tasks and managing time to meet the demands of a busy orthodontic office.
- Orthodontic office experience preferred, with a strong understanding of orthodontic principles and practices.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and well-being.
