Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant community. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, supervise and evaluate the direct involvement of site-specific sport programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise site operations, including cash handling, customer service, risk management procedures and general administrative tasks.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote physical activity, social interaction and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of services and programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to participants, volunteers and staff.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative/cash handling role and working with the public.
  • Previous experience in leading recreation sporting activities and providing direction to participants.
  • Current Standard First Aid certificate.
  • Current CPR-2-rescuer certificate.
  • Current AED Operator certificate.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated confidence and experience in specific and/or generalized sports as program requires.
  • Develops a working knowledge of the Department's facilities and programs in order to make appropriate referrals to other sites as required.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Leadership Training is an asset.
  • Ability to instruct skating is an asset.

  • Understanding of Corporate cash handling policies and procedures.

  • Displays initiative, reliability and flexibility.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be available to work staggered hours.
Language Requirements

Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only or Bilingual competencies.

Police Record Check

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
