PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The part-time Hockey Instructor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and overall experience of participants in Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.
  • Adhere to the on-ice curriculum established by the Head Instructor.
  • Engage in continuous error detection and correction to enhance participants' skills and enjoyment of hockey.
  • Follow established policies and schedules as directed by the Head Instructor.
  • Provide a fun, educational, and engaging hockey experience for all participants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Instructor.

Health & Safety Responsibilities
Accountable for compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), including:

  • Working in accordance with OHSA provisions, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Utilizing protective equipment as required.
  • Reporting any defective equipment or safety hazards.
  • Notifying about any violations of OHSA or internal policies.

Training Requirements:
Responsible for completing necessary online training modules, including:

  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA)
  • Integrated Accessibility Standards
  • Back & Lifting Safety Training
  • Ontario Worker Health & Safety Awareness
  • Violence and Harassment in the Workplace
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • WHMIS 2015 (GHS)

Attendance at scheduled on-site training sessions may also be required.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Availability for flexible working hours.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Comfortable and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Prior hockey experience at a competitive level.
  • Professional demeanor and strong teaching abilities.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; bilingualism (French & English) is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
  • First-Aid certification is an asset.
  • Must provide a clear Police Records Check for service with vulnerable populations.
