Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Supervisor to join our team at the County of Grande Prairie No. 1. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce and the overall success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Policies: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies and programs that align with industry standards, legislation, and organizational strategic goals.
  • Lead a Team of Health and Safety Advisors: Lead a team of Health and Safety Advisors by providing guidance, support, and oversight for team members in executing their daily roles and responsibilities.
  • Coach and Advise Leaders and Workers: Coach and advise leaders and workers on various health and safety issues by providing guidance and tools for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Departments: Collaborate with leaders in every department to promote a positive culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate Health and Safety Metrics: Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of health and safety policies and procedures to ensure standardized practices across the organization.
  • Foster a Positive Safety Culture: Foster a positive safety-conscious culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and adherence to safety compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Workplace Inspections and Audits: Lead regular workplace inspections and audits and implement and complete audit action plan initiatives.
  • Lead Investigations and Implement Corrective Actions: Lead investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain Health and Safety Metrics and Reporting: Maintain health and safety related metrics and reporting.
Qualifications
  • Occupational Health and Safety Degree or Diploma: Occupational Health and Safety degree or diploma.
  • Minimum 3-5 Years of Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressive health and safety supervisory level experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.
  • CRSP Designation: CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
  • Experience Conducting Training Sessions: Experience conducting training sessions and coaching at a cross-organizational level.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety Regulations: In-depth knowledge of Alberta's occupational health and safety regulations and codes.
  • Proven Experience in Developing and Implementing Safety Programs: Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs and policies.
  • Proficiency in Using Safety Management Software: Proficiency in using safety management software and tools to track and report safety metrics.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License: Valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract required.
  • Criminal Record Check: Criminal record check.
