Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Responsible Gaming & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, the Gaming Responsibility Advisor will contribute to advancing the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority's (SIGA) initiatives related to responsible gaming practices, enhancing SIGA's reputation for excellence, and fostering community relationships in line with SIGA's guiding principle of Miyo-wîcêhtowin. This role will execute corporate responsible gaming strategies by disseminating key messages, improving understanding of gambling concepts, and promoting healthy gaming behaviors. Furthermore, this position will cultivate and sustain positive working relationships with casino venue management and staff to bolster responsible gaming awareness, education, and initiatives.

Core Duties Include: Delivering responsible gaming messaging at community events (such as trade shows, health fairs, and Responsible Gambling Awareness week). Establishing and nurturing collaborative relationships with other responsible gaming health and education providers in the community, engaging with patrons, and facilitating voluntary self-exclusions (VSEs). Organizing player events and providing resources, education, and services related to responsible gaming. Planning and executing corporate-wide initiatives and programs for implementation at casinos. Traveling to various casino locations to provide ongoing support for responsible gaming. Acting as the expert resource on responsible gaming for both internal and external audiences, with a focus on casino personnel. Building effective community partnerships and networks. Assisting with communications pertaining to responsible gaming. Contributing to the ongoing development and promotion of SIGA's responsible gaming strategy. Participating in additional projects and activities as necessary to support SIGA's priorities.

Employment Conditions

  • Candidates must successfully undergo a background check and are required to obtain and maintain a gaming employee Certificate of Registration from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA)/Indigenous Gaming Regulators (IGR).
  • The minimum age to work in a casino or any area where gaming is visible is 19 years.
  • A valid Saskatchewan Driver's License and an acceptable driving record are required.
  • Some SIGA locations operate in a high sensory environment. Employees may be exposed to tobacco smoke, high noise levels, flashing lights, and a congested workplace. SIGA adheres to all occupational health and safety regulations and strives to mitigate the adverse effects of these elements.
  • SIGA has implemented a Drug & Alcohol policy for its employees to ensure safety for both employees and patrons.
  • Compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to SLGA requirements and Anti-Money Laundering regulations set forth by Canada and FINTRAC, is mandatory.

Qualifications

Education

  • A completed two-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in business administration with a focus on public relations/communications, adult education, social work, health promotions, addictions, or human services is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in business and work planning.
  • Familiarity with national and provincial programs and organizations related to responsible gaming.
  • Understanding of national and provincial gaming standards and practices.
